BondÂholdÂers of comÂpaÂnies conÂtrolled by JaÂmaican Michael Lee-Chin have isÂsued a strict ulÂtiÂmaÂtum: a payÂment of US$94.1 milÂlion by the end of DeÂcemÂber 2025, or face the poÂtenÂtial seizure of a subÂstanÂtial shareÂholdÂing in the NCB FiÂnanÂcial Group (NCBFG).
The bondÂholdÂers of the three comÂpaÂnies conÂtrolled by Lee-ChinâAIC (BarÂbaÂdos) Ltd, PortÂland (BarÂbaÂdos) Ltd (PBL), and SpeÂcialÂty CofÂfee InÂvestÂment ComÂpaÂny LtdâatÂtendÂed a town hall meetÂing in Kingston on WednesÂday to reÂceive an upÂdate on efÂforts to reÂsolve the over US$364 milÂlion in delinÂquent debt across the three enÂtiÂties.
The outÂstandÂing debt is seÂcured by about 1.06 bilÂlion shares in NCBFG, which repÂreÂsents apÂproxÂiÂmateÂly 41 per cent of the fiÂnanÂcial conÂglomÂerÂateâs outÂstandÂing stock. Lee-Chin is chairÂman of NCBFG and is the comÂpaÂnyâs largest shareÂholdÂer.
