The liqÂuidaÂtor of CliÂco InÂvestÂment Bank (CIB) has lost a lawÂsuit seekÂing to hold three forÂmer exÂecÂuÂtives and board memÂbers acÂcountÂable for the fiÂnanÂcial inÂstiÂtuÂtion’s colÂlapse alÂmost two decades ago.
DeÂlivÂerÂing a judgÂment yesÂterÂday mornÂing, High Court Judge CarÂol GobÂin disÂmissed the case brought by the DeÂposit InÂsurÂance CorÂpoÂraÂtion (DIC) against forÂmer CIB chairÂman AnÂdre MonÂteil, its forÂmer presÂiÂdent Lennox Archer and CEO Richard TrotÂman.
JusÂtice GobÂin found that the liqÂuidaÂtors sought to hold the trio liÂable, while igÂnorÂing the role of the CenÂtral Bank in failÂing to preÂvent the colÂlapse through its role as regÂuÂlaÂtor.
