Lawyers repĀreĀsentĀing busiĀnessĀman DoĀminic Hadeed and his wife, Genevieve, are quesĀtionĀing whether they were beĀing inĀvesĀtiĀgatĀed unĀder EmerĀgency PowĀers RegĀuĀlaĀtions for the onĀgoĀing State of EmerĀgency (SoE) beĀfore beĀing isĀsued with PreĀvenĀtaĀtive DeĀtenĀtion OrĀders (PDOs) on SatĀurĀday.
The isĀsue arose as a habeas corĀpus writ chalĀlengĀing the proĀtractĀed deĀtenĀtion came up for a virĀtuĀal hearĀing beĀfore JusĀtice Frank SeepĀerĀsad a short while ago.
PreĀsentĀing subĀmisĀsions, SeĀnior CounĀsel DouĀglas Mendes, who is leadĀing the couĀple's leĀgal team, claimed that his clients beĀlieved they were beĀing subĀjectĀed to a typĀiĀcal or "run-of-the-mill" poĀlice probe and were not propĀerĀly inĀformed that their exĀtendĀed deĀtenĀtion was unĀder the regĀuĀlaĀtions beĀfore the PDOs were isĀsued.
