A US court on WednesĀday heard arĀguĀments from atĀtorĀneys repĀreĀsentĀing two TrinidaĀdiĀan men who are suĀing the UnitĀed States over the deaths of their loved ones durĀing US atĀtacks on susĀpectĀed drug carĀtels in the reĀgion last year.
AcĀcordĀing to a meĀdia reĀlease from the CenĀter for ConĀstiĀtuĀtionĀal Rights (CCR), the case is beĀing heard in the SouthĀern DisĀtrict of New York. The CCR, along with the AmerĀiĀcan CivĀil LibĀerĀties Union (ACLU) and the New York CivĀil LibĀerĀties Union (NYĀCLU), has sued the Trump adĀminĀisĀtraĀtion to comĀpel the reĀlease of the leĀgal adĀvice it reĀlied on to jusĀtiĀfy air strikes against alĀleged crimĀiĀnals desĀigĀnatĀed as narĀco-terĀrorĀists.
WednesĀdayās hearĀing was limĀitĀed to the lawĀsuit against the OfĀfice of LeĀgal CounĀsel (OLC) over its leĀgal opinĀion, which the Trump adĀminĀisĀtraĀtion is reĀlyĀing on to jusĀtiĀfy and govĀern its camĀpaign of lethal strikes on civilĀian boats in inĀterĀnaĀtionĀal waĀters. The FreeĀdom of InĀforĀmaĀtion Act (FOIA) lawĀsuit forms part of a broadĀer leĀgal chalĀlenge brought by the relĀaĀtives of Chad Joseph, 26, and Rishi SamaĀroo, 41.
