A landĀslide wiped out an enĀtire vilĀlage in SuĀdan ās westĀern reĀgion of DarĀfur, killing an esĀtiĀmatĀed 1,000 peoĀple in one of the deadĀliest natĀurĀal disĀasĀters in the African counĀtryās reĀcent hisĀtoĀry, a rebel group conĀtrolĀling the area said late MonĀday.
The vilĀlage was ācomĀpleteĀly levĀeled to the ground,ā the SuĀdan LibĀerĀaĀtion MoveĀment-Army said as it apĀpealed to the U.N. and inĀterĀnaĀtionĀal aid groups for help to reĀcovĀer the bodĀies.
The tragedy hapĀpened SunĀday in the vilĀlage of Tarasin in CenĀtral DarĀfurās MarĀrah MounĀtains afĀter days of heavy rainĀfall.
