SpeakĀing durĀing deĀbate on the MisĀcelĀlaĀneous ProĀviĀsions (HerĀitage PeĀtroĀleĀum, Paria FuĀel TradĀing and Guaracara ReĀfinĀing VestĀing) (AmendĀment) Bill, 2026, PerĀsad-BissesĀsar arĀgued that it was the preĀviĀous PeoĀpleās NaĀtionĀal MoveĀment (PNM) adĀminĀisĀtraĀtionānot the curĀrent govĀernĀmentāthat viĀoĀlatĀed workĀersā rights by failĀing to preĀserve sucĀcesĀsor rights when Petrotrin was disĀmanĀtled.
The Prime MinĀisĀter was reĀspondĀing to conĀcerns raised by forĀmer enĀerĀgy minĀisĀter StuĀart Young, who arĀgued that the legĀisĀlaĀtion imĀpropĀerĀly inĀterĀferes with matĀters that should be deĀterĀmined by the InĀdusĀtriĀal Court and imĀposĀes union repĀreĀsenĀtaĀtion on workĀers.
