U.K. Prime MinÂisÂter Keir Starmer inÂsistÂed TuesÂday that he has no inÂtenÂtion of reÂsignÂing as calls grew loudÂer withÂin his Labour ParÂty for him to step down and some juÂnior memÂbers of his govÂernÂment quit in protest.
A day beÂfore the state openÂing of ParÂliaÂment when the govÂernÂment will present its legÂislaÂtive proÂgram for the comÂing year, Starmer tried to shore up supÂport withÂin his CabÂiÂnet.
Starmer’s fuÂture has beÂcome a hot topÂic over the past few feverÂish days folÂlowÂing hisÂtoric lossÂes for the Labour ParÂty in loÂcal elecÂtions last week, which if reÂpeatÂed in a naÂtionÂal elecÂtion that has to be held by 2029, would see it overÂwhelmÂingÂly ejectÂed from powÂer.
